Reinstating a transcriber's service qualification after it has been revoked

At TypeWell, we are committed to upholding high service standards to ensure the best support for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Therefore, it is essential that all our transcribers meet the stringent standards set by our organization.

If your TypeWell service qualification has been revoked, you have two pathways to reinstatement that adhere to the industry standards and legal compliances:

Option 1: Complete the TypeWell Refresher Course

This option is a detailed course that revisits all the critical aspects of TypeWell services, helping you to rejuvenate your skills over an average period of 2 months. Learn more about the Refresher Course here.

Option 2: Refresher Screening

If your hiatus from transcribing has been 5 years or less, you have the option to "test out" of the Refresher Course through a remote Skill Consultation, also known as the Refresher Screening. This screening assesses your current abilities to determine if you still meet TypeWell's high standards.

In cases where the screening reveals that a transcriber does not meet the necessary standards, they would then need to undertake the full Refresher Course. The advantage here is that the cost of the screening will be deducted from the Refresher Course fee, providing a financially savvy pathway to reinstatement.

Please note, Option 2 is NOT available to transcribers who trained prior to 2007, because significant updates have since been made to the Basic Skills Course.
