Mastering the MultiPAL

WEBINAR hosted by Kate Ervin

Thursday, August 28, 2014 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDT

Gone are the days when TypeWell transcribers had just a single personal dictionary for special terms and abbreviations. MultiPAL empowers the savvy transcriber to configure a personalized dictionary for each specialization or setting. With a little explanation and practice, you can master the MultiPAL!

Transcribers often share or swap computers, just like they share and swap dictionaries. The flexibility of the MultiPAL is what makes it so powerful. Let's take some time to fully understand how everything works together in the background, so you can choose to make this feature work for you, not against you.

TOPICS: understanding how the transcriber's MultiPAL works in the background • different uses for different scenarios • personal configuration of PAL profiles • backing up and transferring PAL files • precautionary tips to prevent panic • practice with importing, exporting, and managing real PAL files • practice for optimizing prep time and adding PAL entries on the fly • the all-important Q&A

This webinar involves hands-on practice, and is open to current TypeWell transcribers with a V7 Transcriber software license.

Tips for Evaluating Transcribers

Conference Call for Service Coordinators and mentors

Friday, November 1, 2013 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern

The call will be hosted by Kate Ervin, TypeWell Director of Education & Operations. Kate has been a transcriber for almost ten years, a teacher for the TypeWell Basic Skills Course since 2009.

This event is intended for coordinators, mentors, and supervisors who oversee the day-to-day work of TypeWell transcribers. Many of you have expressed that it's challenging to evaluate transcribers, especially if you're not trained as a transcriber yourself. This hangout is for you!

Kate will share some basic procedures and documents to help you efficiently evaluate the quality of your transcribers' work.

Whether you sit in on classes to observe their work in real time, or you review transcripts after class, it's important to know what to look for in a transcript.

Kate will show you 5 common "problem patterns" to look for, as well as proven strategies that you can suggest to help transcribers overcome such problems.

Join us -- together we can "demystify" the transcribing process and start improving the overall quality of your service program!
