How to apply for the Refresher Course

Before enrolling in the Refresher Course, all former transcribers trained after 2007 must complete a short Refresher Screening Inquiry. This helps us locate your past training record and determine whether the full course is the right fit—or if you're eligible for a faster, less costly path to reinstatement.

Note: The Refresher Course is not available to transcribers who trained prior to 2007.


If the Course Is Recommended

If you trained in 2007 or later—and the screening confirms that the Refresher Course is the best path forward—we’ll send you a link to (re)apply through our online system.

Even if you already have a TypeWell account, you’ll need to complete this free online application so we can:

  • Reset your account for course access
  • Capture an up-to-date typing speed sample
  • Review your goals and readiness for distance learning

Our application process is intentionally educational—it’s designed to help you decide whether this self-paced course is the right fit for your current goals and availability.


Cost

  • Refresher Course: $699
  • If you previously completed a paid Refresher Screening, the $150 screening fee will be credited toward the course.

The Refresher Course may be paid for directly by the participant (self-pay) or by a sponsoring employer or agency. Self-pay is available only to previously certified TypeWell transcribers who wish to refresh their skills or re-enter the profession.

Purchasing for Someone Else?

If you're an employer or agency purchasing on behalf of a transcriber, please contact us with their name and email address. We’ll follow up with them directly to complete the screening and application steps.
