Internal Linking allows a TypeWell transcriber to stream the transcript to a nearby device—without needing an internet connection.
This feature is included with a V8 Premium Transcriber license and is ideal for on-site situations where WiFi is unavailable or unreliable.
Readers can view the transcript on any device with a Web browser. The device displays text from the transcriber's Internal Server.
How It Works
Internal Linking turns the transcriber's computer into a WiFi access point (hotspot). Nearby devices can connect to that access point and view the live transcript through any standard web browser.
The transcript is streamed locally from the transcriber's computer, so no external internet or WiFi network is needed. Readers simply:
- Connect their device (laptop, iPad, tablet, etc.) to the transcriber's temporary WiFi network
- Open a web browser and enter a unique local URL
- View the transcript in real time
Internal Linking vs. Web Linking
Feature | Internal Linking | Web Linking |
---|---|---|
Requires internet? | ❌ No | ✅ Yes |
Connection method | Local WiFi access point from transcriber laptop | Internet-based link to TypeWell’s web server |
Setup | Requires one-time configuration and admin access | Ready to use if internet is available |
Reader device | Any browser-enabled device | Any browser-enabled device |
Both methods provide a smooth, mobile-friendly reading experience using the reader’s built-in web browser.
Requirements
- TypeWell Premium Transcriber software (Version 8)
- Windows 10 or higher
- Compatible WiFi card and driver
- Internal Server installed and configured on the transcriber’s computer
⚠️ Note: Initial setup of the Internal Server requires administrator privileges and a few configuration steps. Once installed, it runs in the background automatically when needed.
When to Use Internal Linking
Use Internal Linking when:
- You’re providing on-site TypeWell services and don’t have access to WiFi or internet
- You want a self-contained setup with minimal infrastructure
- You need to connect with one or more nearby devices in the same room
