Web Linking server status:

Zoom Linking service interruption

Monitoring

Between approximately August 3 and August 9, Zoom Linking was unavailable. Users attempting to connect saw “Zoom (searching)” indefinitely, and linking did not complete.

The outage was caused by a server configuration error following recent maintenance. We’ve corrected the configuration and implemented steps to ensure the Zoom Linking service automatically restarts after any future server updates or reboots.

We sincerely apologize for the disruption and appreciate the reports that helped us identify and resolve the issue. Zoom Linking is now functioning normally.

Our public website (www.typewell.com) is now back online following an upstream outage that impacted our hosting provider (Kinsta) and Cloudflare. The disruption was external to TypeWell’s systems and services.

Throughout the incident, all core TypeWell services remained fully operational:

  • Web Linking (real-time transcription) was unaffected
  • User accounts and license management remained accessible
  • LEO continuing education courses remained accessible
  • Support center and ticketing remained accessible

We have confirmed that normal website functionality has been restored. We will continue to monitor closely.

Thank you for your patience as we worked with our partners to resolve the issue.

TypeWell Status Update: Website Availability Disruption

We are currently experiencing a disruption in the availability of our website (www.typewell.com) due to an outage at our web hosting provider, Kinsta. This issue is primarily caused by an a widespread problem with Cloudflare, which is affecting the service provided by Kinsta.

NOTE: This is only impacting our "marketing" website, typewell.com. All other systems/services are not impacted, to best of our knowledge. Our streaming text platform (aka Web Linking) is not impacted, so any real-time transcription services can continue without interruption.

While this disruption is rooted in external dependencies beyond our immediate control, we are actively monitoring the situation. Our IT team is following real-time updates from Kinsta and Cloudflare as they work to resolve the issue. You can follow these updates stay informed on developments:

Maintaining consistent service availability is a top priority for TypeWell, and we are committed to minimizing any impact this disruption may cause.

Certificate issue affecting some Web Linking connections

Resolved

We have completed a certificate update on our Web Linking servers. The certificate chain is now correctly configured and trusted by all major browsers. This should resolve the certificate errors (NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID) that some users were seeing earlier.

If you or your team continue to encounter any issues accessing Web Reader pages, please try clearing your browser cache or restarting the browser, and contact us if the problem persists.

We appreciate your patience while we addressed this issue.

Identified

We have identified a certificate configuration issue on our Web Linking servers. This is causing some users to see a browser error (NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID) when attempting to access a Web Reader page.

The underlying cause is a missing intermediate certificate on the server. Many browsers will connect normally if they already trust the certificate chain, but others will block the connection. This issue may affect both transcribers and readers (students), depending on their browser and device.

If you encounter this error and need immediate access to a Web Reader page for real-time communication, trying a different browser (such as Chrome) may allow you to connect successfully while we work on the permanent fix.

We are actively working on a permanent fix to ensure full compatibility across all devices and browsers. We will update this notice as soon as the issue is resolved.
